The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985) **

Has not aged well. Most of the cast seem miscast which hampers the impact of the final scenes. Some decent Woody one-liners and his usual fine pacing, but it's not up to his impressive visual standards.

Dear Buck,
Alas, the protagonist should have stayed with the movie screen version of the man she fell in love with.....he was never going to break her heart or abandon her, like the "real" guy in the movie did. Instead, he left her to return without resources to a dark place that she had tried so desperately to escape. Interesting tale...always love the "play within a play" concept.

Definitely a few good Woody lines in there!I think Mia was not the right fit for the movie.
Love,
Natasha
