Little Miss Sunshine (2006)** A great cast which does a generally fine job, but it all seems forced, artificial and clichéd. I have no idea why it was nominated for a best picture Oscar.

I think it helped that I went into this film with low expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. But I feel bad for anyone who, conversely, will watch this expecting Oscar material.
It's always a pleasant surprise when I get a comment. Thank you! And you may be right. I had been meaning to see LMS for a while and when it got the nomination it probably did boost my expectations a bit. I thought the acting nominations/awards were well deserved though. It's just the whole road trip/alienated youth/goofy beauty pageant/9 step winner thing seemed like a bit too much for one flick to handle with aplomb.
